Alberto Faccani – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Named as one of the ‘100 chefs who have changed Italian cuisine in the last 10 years’, Alberto Faccani's dynamic style of cuisine is self-taught, blending styles, forms and traditions. After working at the Michelin-starred La Frasca and Enotecca Pinchiorri restaurants, aged just 27, he decided to open his own restaurant, Magnolia, in 2003. Within just 18 months, it had received its first Michelin star, and today it has two Michelin stars to its name.
Mark Lundgaard – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Mark Lundgaard is the head chef and director at two-Michelin starred Kong Hans Kælder restaurant in Copenhagen. In his universe, food is not a gift sent down from heaven. With a distinctive mix of classic French cuisine and new Nordic kitchen, he creates dishes that define palatability at its best.
Nina Metayer – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Originally from Mexico, Nina Metayer is the darling of Parisian patisserie. A fan of the city’s famed Café Pouchkine since its inception, she was chosen by Andrey Dellos as the group’s Creative Dessert Manager in the spring of 2017, and is now is Creative Pastry Director. With her famous chocolate-buckwheat creation in the running for the best chocolate dessert of the year in the Lebey Guide 2016, Nina was also voted Pastry Chef of the Year 2016 by her peers in Le Chef magazine and named Pâtissier of the Year 2017 by the Gault & Millau Guide.
Rafael Márquez – Soneva Stars Visiting Football Freestyler
Former professional footballer Rafael Márquez is regarded as the best defender in Mexico’s history and one of the best Mexican players of all time. He made his professional debut with the Atlas de Guadalajara in 1996, becoming part of the squad known as the ‘golden generation’. Rafael went on to play for AS Monaco for four years, before transferring to FC Barcelona and becoming the first-ever Mexican to represent the club. The current youth coach of Spanish Tercera División club Alcalá, Rafael will be hosting a series of football camps during his time at Soneva Fushi.
Marcel Gurk – Soneva Stars Visiting Football Freestyler
Hailed as one of the best football freestylers in the world, Marcel Gurk is the current German champion, holds ten Guinness World Records and is the author of the world's first book on football freestyling. While in the Maldives, he will be hosting complimentary daily football freestyling workshops for Young Sonevians.
Juin Ho – Soneva Stars Visiting Artist
Award-winning interior and furnishings designer, Juin Ho is the founder and president of the innovative, multidisciplinary Jiun Ho Inc. An ardent traveller, Jiun has visited more than one hundred countries, and this globetrotting has informed and enriched his prodigious output. His work is celebrated not only for its refined aesthetics but also for its global worldview. While at Soneva Fushi, he will be residing over Soneva Art and Glass, the Maldives’ only hot glass studio.
Sarafina Nance – Soneva Stars Visiting Astrophysicist
Sarafina El-Badry Nance is an astrophysicist, analogue astronaut, author and science communicator. She is currently wrapping up her PhD in astrophysics as a National Research Foundation (NSF) graduate fellow at UC Berkeley on supernovae and computational cosmology and recently completed a Mars astronaut simulation at the Hawai’i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS). A frequent on-air science expert, her debut children’s book, Little Leonardo’s Fascinating World of Astronomy, reflects her mission to bring the magic of the cosmos to the world. Sarafina is also a Forbes 30 Under 30 awardee in Science, one of Forbes’ 30 Inspirational Women, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2022 model and an Arab American 40 Under 40 recipient.
Molly Oldfield – Soneva Stars Visiting Author
Molly Oldfield is the host of ‘Everything Under the Sun’, a weekly podcast answering questions from children all around the world. She has turned the podcast into a bestselling book called ‘Everything Under The Sun’ – a curious question for every day of the year filled with children’s questions that were sent into the podcast, each one answered either by Molly or by a cast of wonderful experts including Neil Gaiman, Sophie Dahl, Oliver Jeffers, Heston Blumenthal, The Natural History Museum curators, Richard Branson, Grayson Perry and many more.
Soneva Academy Courses
Combine your stay with a fascinating learning experience for Young Sonevians - with Soneva Academy's three-day courses on the stars, marine life, life in the jungle or zero waste and plastic pollution. Each course is suitable for older children and teens, aged 12 to 18.
The Adventure of Corbin
This special Soneva Academy adventure follows in the wake of The Corbin, a galleon that sank on the Goidhoo reef in 1602. Stay on the island of Innafushi to learn about the sea, survival skills and ancient navigation methods.

This intimate, rustic seaside shack focuses on the freshest, sustainably caught seafood. Open from 11am onwards, the menu features Mediterranean flavours, wok-fried dishes and tapas-inspired light bites.

With its sake-polished Japanese pine, known as ‘hinoki’, countertop, our intimate six-seater counter at Out of the Blue lets you experience sushi master Chef Akira’s dexterous skills up close.

Breakfast, High Tea and Dinner at Flying Sauces
With a delectable gourmet menu, breathtaking views over the leafy forest and the adrenaline rush of ziplining through the treetops – the Flying Sauces zipline is a dining experience like no other! Starting from The Den, glide along the 200-metre zipline route to our elevated dining platform – at 12 metres above the ground, it has exceptional views across the sparkling ocean. Once there, Chef Rasal will prepare an exquisite seasonal menu in our open treetop kitchen.
Lunch and Dinner at Shades of Green
Experience an evening filled with surprises, starting with a walk of discovery through Soneva’s organic vegetable garden. The menu features simple yet experimental organic and plant-based dishes, blending Maldivian and Southeast Asian cuisines; which are then prepared using Nordic techniques such as smoking, salting, fermenting and pickling.
Dinner at Fresh in the Garden by Chef Mads
Dine high above our organic gardens, where the aromas of the herbs waft up from below. The central open kitchen gives you a front-row seat to the action, and choose to sit under cover or beneath the starry night sky. Currently, Fresh in the Garden is hosting a 12-month pop-up with a menu by Chef Mads Refslund, the Noma co-founder and pioneer for New Nordic Cuisine, that is based on the concept of 'fire and ice'.
Dinner at So Bespoke by Hiroshi
Sizzling and smoke set the stage for So Bespoke, our teppanyaki table at Out of the Blue. This outdoor restaurant commands unspoilt views across the clear waters of the Baa Atoll. Hiroshi, our experienced Japanese Teppanyaki chef, creates an intimate and unforgettable dining experience that showcases exquisite ingredients and culinary showmanship, with just eight guests per sitting.
Carne Diem Grill by Dharshan
This innovative concept at Down to Earth is built around a unique charcoal grill created by Dharshan himself. It operates at a temperature of 750 ̊C to lock in the flavour of succulent meats, freshly-caught seafood and tender vegetables.

So Social on the Sandbank
Join your fellow guests on our private sandbank every Tuesday evening as the sun begins to set over the horizon. Meet and mingle with our Management Team as you enjoy a selection of cocktails and drinks, gourmet finger food and massages on the sand to the sounds of traditional Boduberu drums.
Stargazing Experience
Join our astronomer to explore the night skies over the Maldives. Learn about the various constellations and take a closer look at the moon, planets and the stars at our island Observatory (stargazing can also be combined with a dining experience).
Conscious Experience: Slow Life Journey
Delve into our Slow Life philosophy that has sustainability at its heart. Take a tour of our Eco Centro Waste to Wealth Centre and the organic gardens at Fresh in the Garden. Learn about the principles of permaculture then pick greens and herbs, which our chefs will transform into a delicious lunch.
Conscious Experience: Wildlife Explorers
Specially designed for Young Sonevians and their families, this immersive experience lets you get up close to the wildlife on our island. Learn about our flora and fauna and their names in Dhivehi (the language of the Maldives), then discover how to spot animal tracks.
Pool Party and Mocktails at The Den Pool Bar
Play some fun party games, dance to music, munch on fruits and popcorn, and splash around in the pool. Create colourful party decorations to decorate the pool bar, then make your own yummy mocktail.

Pick up an old hobby or try something new with our selection of complimentary non-motorised and chargeable motorised watersports. These include paddleboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, kite surfing, sailing, fun tubing (single ring, two and three-seat tube), water skiing, mono skiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, laser boat, sub wing and our Seabob.
Snorkelling at the Rose Garden
The Rose Garden at Goidhoo is a shallow snorkelling site that offers a spectacular display that looks like a huge underwater garden of rose-shaped coral.

Surf uncrowded breaks with our surfing guides and instructors on the world’s first 100% sustainable surfing programme. All of our equipment, from our sunscreen to fins and rash guards, are made by sustainable brands.

Indulge in relaxing and rejuvenating therapies from around the world that reconnect mind, body and soul. Soneva in Aqua
Soneva in Aqua, our luxury, custom-built yacht, is available for day and overnight charters. The two-cabin, 23-metre vessel is the perfect blend of Soneva’s sustainable luxury ethos and an adventurous seafaring spirit. Charter Soneva in Aqua for diving, surfing or snorkelling trips to some of the Maldives’ most beautiful atolls and reefs. Your crew will consist of the Captain, Private Chef, Barefoot Butler, Wellness Therapist and Mechanic. A Dive Master, Surf Instructor, Photographer and Astronomer can be added on request.
The Den
Inspired by childhood wonder, The Den is the largest children’s club in the Maldives and South Asia, packed with exciting, one-of-a-kind activities and experiences for our youngest guests. Discover our daily programme of fun and inspiring activities for children and teens, or simply come and hang out with us and tell us what you would like to do. The Den and our activities programme are designed for children aged 4 and above; under 4s are welcome to join us if accompanied by a parent or a babysitter. The Den is open daily from 10:00-17:00 - we do not close for lunch, so families and children can order In-Villa Dining at The Den should you wish to dine there.
