Sascha Stemberg – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Sascha Stemberg has been running Haus Stemberg in Velbert, Germany, since 2015. The restaurant has been family-run since 1864, making Sascha and his wife the fifth generation to inherit it. Each of his dishes is always full of flavour, using only the best ingredients, which are often local, and in 2013 the restaurant achieved its first Michelin Star.
Pepi Aneveski – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Pepi Aneveski is a certified sushi head chef by the prestigious All Japan Sushi Association (AJSA). With more than 15 years of experience, one of his greatest achievements has been winning the World Sushi Cup in Tokyo, Japan in March 2013, and also being awarded the title ‘World’s Most Creative Sushi Master’. In recent years, Aneveski has been working as a Head Sushi Chef in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has continued to develop his artistry.
Dipna Anand – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Known as the curry queen of the Indian cookery world, Dipna Anand is a celebrity chef and author who co-owns the famous Brilliant Restaurant in Southall, specialising in Punjabi cuisine, showcasing some of her grandfather’s recipes dating back to over 75 years. Dipna carries out food demos, pop-up chef events and is currently on a mission to teach the nation how to cook ‘real Indian Food’ with her TV show Dip In Kitchen.
Lisa Goodwin-Allen – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Over the last two decades, Lisa Goodwin-Allen has helped maintain Northcote’s Michelin star, using seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients that incorporate her Lancashire roots into her creative dishes. She has become a familiar face on British television and has appeared on the BBC's Great British Menu as both a contestant and guest judge. She has also been a chef mentor and judge on MasterChef: The Professionals, and Celebrity MasterChef.
Chantelle Nicholson – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Chantelle Nicholson is the multi-award-winning chef and owner of London's Apricity. As one of the leading female voices in the UK’s hospitality industry, Chantelle is an advocate for seasonality and sustainability. Originally from New Zealand, she is committed to creating a more sustainable future across her operation and activities, whilst also being an independent board member for ReLondon – moving London towards a more circular economy.
Viktor Beley – Soneva Stars Visiting Chef
Over the past 20 years, the multi-award-winning chef has mastered his skills under the guidance of some of the most well-known Michelin-starred culinary legends from around the world. Viktor is currently the brand chef of Moscow’s Uhvat restaurant, where he specialises in locally-grown produce and age-old cooking methods. Constantly surprising guests with his original interpretation of traditional cuisine, he uses his original clay wood-burning stoves to cook delectable dishes before adding modern techniques and an author’s presentation.
Joe Wicks – Soneva Stars Visiting Fitness Expert
Joe Wicks is on a mission to make the world fitter, healthier and happier. The man behind the global fitness brand The Body Coach, his YouTube channel The Body Coach TV delivers home workouts for all ages and fitness levels. His PE With Joe workout series during the Covid-19 lockdown received over 80 million views and raised more than £580,000 for NHS Charities Together. In 2020, Joe broke the Guinness World Record for the highest number of viewers for a live-streamed workout on YouTube – with over 955,000 viewers taking part.
Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff – Soneva Stars Visiting Fitness and Yoga Experts
A big, quick wing, former English professional rugby player Ben Cohen was a regular fixture and prolific try-scorer on the international stage. Well-known for her eight-year stint on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Kristina Rihanoff is a world-finalist professional ballroom dancer, instructor, choreographer and author who credits her regular yoga practice for keeping her away from injuries. Together, the couple opened Soo Yoga in 2019 – the first and only holistic family wellbeing centre in Northamptonshire, UK.
Ibrahim ‘Ibou’ Ba – Soneva Stars Visiting Football Player
Born in Dakar, Senegal, Ibou began his professional football career at the age of 17 with French side Le Havre. An impressive right mid-fielder, he moved to FC Girondins de Bordeaux in 1996 and was part of the team that reached the final in the Coupe de la Ligue. From there, he was bought by AC Milan, winning the Serie A title in 1998-99. He re-joined the legendary side after brief stints on loan to AC Perugia and Olympique de Marseille, and was part of AC Milan’s legendary 2002-03 season, winning both the UEFA Champions League and the Coppa Italia. During his career, he also won eight caps playing for the French national squad.
Agnieszka Radwańska – Soneva Stars Visiting Tennis Player
Agnieszka Roma Radwańska is a Polish former professional tennis player. Known for making intelligent use of the court, she won 20 career singles titles, two doubles titles, and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 2 on July 9, 2012. Among her many achievements and accolades, she is the first Polish player in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam singles final, the first Pole to win the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals, the first Pole to claim a WTA singles title, and was one half of the first Polish team to win the Hopman Cup tournament.
Therese Alshammar – Soneva Stars Visiting Olympic Swimmer
Therese Alshammar is a Swedish swimmer who has won 72 international medals, including three Olympic medals, 25 World Championship medals and 43 European Championship medals, and has set 14 world records throughout her career. A specialist in short distances races in freestyle and butterfly, she is the only female swimmer who has competed in six Olympic Games and the oldest to win an individual world championship title. Therese also runs a learn-to-swim program for schools in Sweden and has written two children’s books on swimming, mixing fact and fiction to spur interest to play in the water.
Dr Chet Collins – Soneva Stars Visiting Wellness Specialist
Combining years of hands-on therapy and clinical chiropractic experience with an in-depth understanding of human movement, sport and exercise physiology, Dr Chet Collins provides his patients with immediate relief and long-term solutions for their physical needs. His passion and record for helping others discover the freedom of movement have resulted in an international reputation as “Dr Magic Hands”.
Dr James O’Donoghue – Soneva Stars Visiting Astronomer
Dr James O’Donoghue is a planetary astronomer at the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). His recent astronomical discoveries made global news: Saturn’s rings aren’t going to last forever — they are falling into the upper atmosphere and Jupiter’s aurora heats the entire planet. James has a passion for educating people about the wonders of space, creating space-themed animations which are used in schools, planetariums, universities and museums globally.

Crab Shack
Dine on succulent crabs and seafood, with a glass of rosé in your hand and your toes in the sand. Expect signature dishes like pepper crab, chilli crab and Sri Lankan specialities, prawns à la plancha and calamari. The Crab Shack is made of driftwood, flotsam and jetsam that came in with the tides. It is perfectly positioned on the southwest beach to watch the beautiful Maldivian sunsets.
Overseas by Mathias Dahlgren
Overseas is the brainchild of acclaimed Swedish chef and restaurateur, Mathias Dahlgren. Located by The Gathering, the overwater al fresco restaurant has a menu that focuses on pescatarian, vegetarian and plant-based dishes. Serving a selection of snacks, sharing plates and signature mains for lunch and dinner, the fish and seafood are sustainably caught in local waters, while the vegetables, herbs and fruits are freshly picked from Soneva Jani’s own organic gardens.

Take part in our coral rehabilitation programme by joining our Ocean Guardians in planting coral fragments on reef stars in the lagoon. Your efforts will result in the creation of new habitats for our local marine life.
Stargazing with Maavin, our Astronomer, at So Starstruck
Explore the starry night sky through the lens of Eleos, our 16" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope – her namesake is the Greek goddess of compassion, pity and mercy. Depending on the time of year you can see the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, the Orion nebula, Omega Centauri and much more. Soneva in Aqua, our luxury, custom-built yacht, is available for day and overnight charters. The two-cabin, 23-metre vessel is the perfect blend of Soneva’s sustainable luxury ethos and an adventurous seafaring spirit. Charter Soneva in Aqua for diving, surfing or snorkelling trips to some of the Maldives’ most beautiful atolls and reefs. Your crew will consist of the Captain, Private Chef, Barefoot Guardian, Wellness Therapist and Mechanic. A Dive Master, Surf Instructor, Photographer and Astronomer can be added on request.
Jungle Gym
The Jungle Gym at Soneva Jani will allow you to work through all elements of your fitness - balance, coordination, agility, strength, power and endurance. Try climbing ropes, hanging bars, balance beams, a power sled and logs for flipping or pulling through the sand. An adventure not to be missed, and a fantastic programme for children of all ages!
Watersports Activities
Soneva Jani offers a variety of watersports activities and experiences such as paddle boarding, windsurfing, kayaking, wakeboarding, kneeboarding and kite surfing. You can also learn to swim or snorkel with our experienced instructors and guides. All of our non-motorised watersports are complimentary, lessons are chargeable.
Fly Boarding Experience
Experience our beautiful Medhufaru Lagoon as you glide across the turquoise water. If you don’t know how to Fly Board, our watersports Hosts are more than happy to teach you the basics.
Soleni Dive School
The Soleni Dive School is open 365 days a year, offering morning, afternoon and night dives and PADI-registered courses. For dive programmes, please make a booking with your Barefoot Guardian.
Yoga and Pranayama
Join Justin and Kamal, our Yoga and Meditation Masters, for authentic yoga and guidance into yogic breathing (Pranayama). Enhance your overall wellbeing; stretch and strengthen your body; learn to focus your mind and balance your emotions. Yoga sessions can also be booked privately with Justin or Kamal, to help you reach new levels of balance, strength, coordination and mental clarity.

The Den (Parents Must Be Accompanied by Children)
Join us at the all-new Den - our inspiring haven dedicated to children and teens of all ages! Glide along the zipline, make a splash in the pool, hang out in the grotto, or hop along the musical piano steps to create your own music. From sensory spaces for toddlers to a mocktail bar for teens, plus areas for dressing up, lego, crafts, reading and so much more. The space and programme are designed for children 4 years and older; children under 4 are welcome to join us if accompanied by a parent or a babysitter.
